Loved everything about the Oxbow. Great fish & chips, friendly staff, & scenic river views — casual dining at its best.

If you are British and you miss good old fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce, then get yourself to The Oxbow. Fantastic fish and chips made by a real Brit. The views are gorgeous, and the ginger fizz is amazingly refreshing. It was fantastic to find this place. The pies are delicious too. My wife would go back just for the smoked fish starter. I can highly recommend this place.

Wonderful first visit. Fish and chips as good as Scotland and England.

Our first time there, the service was great. The fish and chips were excellent, along with the sticky toffee ice cream dessert.

Need a British fix? Search no further than Oxbow. The taste and feel of pub/tavern food in the USA. The fish (cod) and chips (with malt vinegar available on the table), bangers and mash just takes you back to England. We will definitely go back. We ate on the porch overlooking the water, rain was coming down and just reminded me of England so much. Excellent place!!!

Good fish n chips. The seating area in the back is really nice too.

Very excellent and authentic dishes. Better than when I tried them in the Sheffield area, but with the same flavors; prepared with care. I never experienced hospitality as warm and friendly as this in England either. It probably exists somewhere over there, but I am glad that this place opened up near where I live.

A fantastic slice of England dropped in the Upstate of South Carolina. The fish and chips are just about the closest you can get to the real thing, short of buying a plane ticket, and the staff are wonderful. Don’t skip the sticky toffee pudding, and be sure to get there early to secure a parking spot and place in line.

Having had many Friday chippy suppers in the UK and having moved to Canada and the USA, I have made it a point to try and find fish and chips made the British way — travelled from Anderson SC, to NC, Tennessee, even up to Portland OR (which was good), even tried Mr. Ramsey’s version at Harrah’s in Cherokee — but none of these hold a candle to what we had last night at The Oxbow. Been wanting to go for a few weeks and tonight finally made it. Ordered the fish and chips and also the Ploughman’s platter. Fish was cooked the way it should be, crispy and hot, not like some where you need a pickaxe to break into it — tender and flaky when you get into it. Chips were very good, little crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The items on the Ploughman’s platter were fresh and enjoyable. Sat outside and watched the tubers floating by, actually felt like a little vacation place that was peaceful. Can see why there is a line up outside waiting to get in. Enjoyed the time there, will be going back again. Job well done, mate.

Finally made it to The Oxbow last night and it did not disappoint — in fact it exceeded our hopes. Despite a downpour worthy of one of Noah’s arks, the place was heaving, but we happily took up residence at the bar for what I can only describe as amazing fish and chips with the added bonus of mushy peas. As a Brit, I can honestly say it was among the best fish I’ve had, with real chips and not skinny fries. My American wife fell for mushy peas when we were living in London and we both devoured our food with joy. There’s a great atmosphere at The Oxbow, and the location out back is stunning. If you haven’t been yet, shame on you — we’ll be back for sure.
